More about Point of Pines
You can experience awesome landscapes and impressive biological diversity in a grandiose ponderosa pine and fir forest. Point of Pines Lake has good fishing and picnicking facilities. Other lakes are nestled in the surrounding pine forests.
Point of Pines Lake supplies trout anglers, hikers, and campers with views of the most beautiful pine-covered country in Arizona. The lake is accessible year-round and is stocked exclusively with trout. At an elevation of over 6,000’, this 24-acre lake provides a unique opportunity for the trout angler. Fish in Point of Pines Lake include rainbow, cutthroat, and brown trout.
The lake is limited to electric or people-powered boats (no outboards) which makes for a quiet, relaxing fishing experience. With recent road construction to the lake, it is an easy and scenic drive moving through Sonoran desert to cool pine forest. There are picnic tables, campsites, and restrooms located at the lake. Overnight camping is set back from the lake.
Access: From Safford, drive 50 miles northwest on Highway 70 to Route 8. Take Route 8 for 60 miles to Route 11.

"Spent the weekend at Point of Pines Lake, It is an amazing place to camp. But was highly disappointed of the amount of trash, and unable to use the restrooms because of the filth. If I am going to pay $35 dollars a weekend per person to enjoy the land, then why does it look like this? We witnessed many of the local come for the day and fish, but leave all trash behind and fire's still going. Please help me understand..........."

"My girlfriend and I just took a day trip to point of pines lake. Very beautiful drive. Keep in mind from highway 70 it's about 50 miles to the lake and NO gas to be found so please fill up. Points of pines lake is a beautiful small lake nestled in the pines trees.Very quite and relax. Great place for a day picnic and s little fishing. Lake is stocked. as far as camp grounds go.... Well very sad! The camp grounds are covered in trash. I mean trash spread all over the beautiful forest. It's unreal that people could just trash and not take care of such a beautiful place. Still a great day trip , must see just don't go to camp grounds stay in day use area.
